Over 70 Modern Apprentices descended on Cunninghame House, Irvine to highlight the benefits of the Council’s Modern Apprentice programme to both individuals and the economy.
To celebrate Scottish Modern Apprenticeship Week, which runs from Monday 6 March 2017, the local authority will be showcasing the type of Modern Apprenticeships available and its commitment to invest in the skills of its workforce.
Through a range of video clips on social media, including Business Admin, and Horticulture Modern Apprenticeships, the Council will showcase the progress and success of its young people.
From May 2017, the Council will be advertising a variety of new Modern Apprenticeships including: Paralegal, Arboriculture, Bereavement, Housing, Procurement and Information Security. Other Modern Apprenticeship vacancies will include Business Admin, Childcare, Professional Cookery, Horticulture, Vehicle Maintenance and Health & Social Care to name but a few.
Councillor Alex Gallagher, Cabinet Member for Economy, said: “As a Council we aim to deliver on the aspiration of Developing Ayrshire’s Young Workforce and our highly successful Modern Apprentice programme is key to this.
“We are looking to recruit over 80 new Modern Apprentices over the next 12 months. We’ve been speaking to a number of our current Modern Apprentices and they can’t speak highly enough of the work experience and training they have received which has helped to develop their careers.
“The training we provide offers our local young people a great opportunity to start their career and progress to the next level.”
Sean Heggie (20), Former Business Admin Modern Apprentice with North Ayrshire Council, said: “The Council’s Modern Apprentice programme is a great opportunity to gain work experience and further your education.
“I recently secured a full-time job and I hope to use this as a stepping stone to further my career.”
